The name is new, but the power behind it is stronger than ever – Mesa Power Solutions designs, assembles, and supports the equipment that keeps essential industries running. We find out more about the full-service power provider with Cruz Cabral, Vice President of Operations.
POWERED UP
From where I sit within Mesa Power Solutions (Mesa), the energy and utilities industry in the US is in one of its most dynamic and uncertain phases in decades – but also one of the most promising.”
Demand for reliable, distributed power has never been higher, according to Mesa’s Vice President of Operations, Cruz Cabral.
Between data centers, manufacturing growth, electrification, and general grid instability, the need for flexible, on-demand energy solutions continues to expand faster than the traditional utility model can keep up with.
“What we’re seeing across the industry is tension between legacy infrastructure and future demand. Utilities are struggling with aging transmission systems, slow permitting, and the complexity of integrating renewables at scale,” Cabral insights.
“Meanwhile, customers – whether industrial operators, municipalities, or data centers – can’t wait for that infrastructure to catch up; they need reliability today.”
Companies like Mesa have been able to bridge this gap, providing modular, natural gas-powered generation systems that bring grid-level reliability directly to the point of use.
Natural gas continues to play a critical role in the US energy mix and is the most viable bridge fuel for the transition toward a cleaner, decentralized grid.
“What excites me is how our offerings – combining power solutions and intelligent controls – are evolving. We’re starting to see serious momentum around microgrids, load management, and energy resilience as service models,” notes Cabral.
“From my standpoint, the opportunity isn’t just about selling equipment – it’s about being a strategic energy partner. We’re focused on reliability, efficiency, and scalability – the fundamentals that matter regardless of which way the policy winds blow.
“I think that’s what differentiates the next generation of energy service companies – those that can operate like an original equipment manufacturer (OEM), think like a technology firm, and execute like a disciplined field organization,” he affirms.
With the US energy and utilities sector at a turning point, it’s an exciting place to be for both Mesa and Cabral.
“We’re not waiting for the grid to catch up – we’re building what comes next.”

A REWARDING JOURNEY
At Mesa, Cabral has had the privilege of being part of a company that not only builds and operates power systems, but also innovates how we think about distributed energy, reliability, and customer service.
Over the years, his role has evolved from learning the technical details of generators to designing and leading large-scale operational systems – spanning hundreds of units, multiple facilities, and full-service support teams.
“What keeps me driven in this industry is winning in the leadership realm – solving complex problems with real-world impact,” Cabral tells us.
“I’m proud to have grown alongside Mesa as we’ve transformed from a rental fleet operation into a forward-leaning, trusted power solutions provider.”
It has been a challenging, rewarding journey for Cabral, one that feels like an extension of the same mission mindset he learned in the US Marine Corps (USMC) – live with purpose, lead by example, and never stop improving.
Cabral learned the fundamentals of leadership, teamwork, and operational discipline in the USMC, where he was also instilled with a deep respect for planning, accountability, and mission execution – values that have stayed with him in every role since.
“My career has been anything but linear – it’s been built on adaptability, discipline, and seizing opportunities that often didn’t look like opportunities at first,” he reflects.
After leaving the USMC, Cabral didn’t set out to work in the energy industry. In fact, his transition into energy services was a happy accident.
“I was looking for a challenge – something that demanded the same level of precision, teamwork, and problem-solving that I had in the USMC — and I found that at Mesa.
“What started as an opportunity to contribute turned into a passion for reliable power generation and operational excellence,” Cabral shares.

RELIABLE ENERGY SOLUTIONS
Mesa was built to deliver resilient, reliable energy solutions where they’re needed most.
Its roots are in oil and gas, where the company has established a reputation for rugged, dependable generators capable of running on wellhead, stranded, or natural gas, giving operators flexibility, fuel savings, and environmental advantages in the field.
“We began by delivering distributed power solutions primarily to oil and gas customers across the Central and Western US,” Cabral outlines.
Mesa’s natural gas-powered equipment is trusted by leading oil and gas producers to deliver consistent power that performs in extreme conditions.
From remote well sites to large-scale refining operations, Mesa’s generators deliver continuous, reliable power for every phase, keeping production moving and downtime off the table.
Along with oil and gas, which remains a core market, Mesa now also serves the data center and utilities industries.
As data centers require mission-critical reliability, the company delivers scalable solutions that grow with demand while reducing reliance on the grid.
Mesa also partners with utility providers to deliver dependable, modular power systems that safeguard grid stability.
“Our commitment to reliability, comprehensive service offerings, and cutting-edge telemetry systems quickly established Mesa as a trusted partner in the energy sector,” acclaims Cabral.
“Over time, we evolved into a fully fledged engine and generator manufacturer, expanding our capabilities to meet a broader range of energy needs.
“Today, we provide a complete portfolio of distributed and interconnected power solutions, including primary, standby, and bridge power systems – whether standalone or grid-connected,” he confirms.

Across the oil and gas, data center, and utilities industries, the company stands out thanks to its impressive combination of unmatched service, technical expertise, and engineering flexibility.
“Our industry-leading two-hour service guarantee, backed by robust preventive and predictive maintenance programs, ensures exceptional uptime and reliability for our customers,” Cabral highlights.
In addition to service excellence, Mesa’s ability to manufacture and rebuild engines to OEM specifications allows it to offer a deeper and more versatile range of solutions tailored to meet evolving operational demands.
The company’s in-house engineering and applications teams also design and deliver custom-built power systems based on individual needs, regulatory requirements, and site-specific conditions.
“Our end-to-end capability – from design to deployment – positions Mesa as a trusted energy partner across industries,” prides Cabral.
This is evidenced by the company’s client base, which now includes large commercial and industrial organizations seeking dependable energy solutions.
With a growing footprint and team of nearly 1,000 employees distributed across 35+ facilities throughout the US, Mesa continues to deliver innovative, scalable power systems to these clients, meeting the demands of modern energy infrastructure.
EXPANDING FOOTPRINT
The company’s footprint is expanding even further with the construction of a new 200,000 square foot (sqft) manufacturing and assembly facility in Evansville, Wyoming.
A huge ground-breaking ceremony was held for the state-of-the-art facility on 30th January this year, with operations expected to begin in Q3 2026.
“It will consolidate several of our dispersed operations under one roof, significantly enhancing operational efficiency and unit throughput,” Cabral informs us.
By centralizing production, Mesa will be able to offer its sales and rental customers even faster delivery timelines and an elevated level of service.
“This strategic expansion reflects our commitment to growth, innovation, and meeting the evolving needs of our clients with speed and precision,” he emphasizes.
Construction of the manufacturing and assembly facility follows on from the opening of a secondary assembly facility in San Antonio, Texas (TX) in Q4 2024, which expanded Mesa’s overall manufacturing capacity and strengthened its presence in a key geographic region.
Marking new beginnings and a bright future in the city, it was an important milestone as the company ramps up to meet growing demand and increase its impact.
“Our San Antonio location was strategically selected to better serve our legacy customer base, which operates throughout the Permian and Eagle Ford Basins, enabling faster delivery and more responsive support,” Cabral sets out.
“Additionally, the San Antonio facility positions Mesa closer to major ports of export, enhancing our ability to serve international customers with greater efficiency and reduced lead times.”
